Appearance: WIP version of her picture

Slender and lithe she has bones that are hallow to allow her flight. Her wings are black feathers, but there is a soft iridescence to them. Her hair is similar but with a more purple-ish tint to them. Her eyes are mood eyes and match the same coloring scheme as the unicorns of the island. She eats whatever she wants, because on the island what you eat doesn't matter. However, her constant flights and her urge to vigilantly scour the island means she's flying almost constantly. Abulus often goes with her and carries her, but she really likes to fly.

She is a result of the divine goddess, Abathia, creating an Avatar. To this end, she also possesses some of Abathia's traits (color changing eyes, hair that moves on its own, the subtle sweet but unsettling scent of magic)

Her dress may seem unusual, but its rather practical for where she lives. Trying to work around the wings was hard. I created a sort of "shell" to cover her chest but I left her stomach bared because if she's flying, she'd need to have maleability there (moving up and down). She doesn't feel cold (her main element is water, and therefore in D&D cold is an immunity for her). This means, that her clothes are made to cover her up and in this case, they are magically enchanted.

Her belt is enchanted to armor and protect her. To be honest, with such an idyllic land, she's rarely had a need for it, but its an artifact passed to her by Abathia. Her crown is also a gift from Abathia, an enchanted tiara that allows her to resist being controlled through mental powers that other beings may possess (in a land of fey, its priceless). The purple stones (well, they'll be purple when colored) are actually harvested from the forest and no one knows where they come from. They are essentially "magical batteries" just like crystals in real magick are used. The skirt is simply a gossammer bit of layers that don't impede much with her flight. She also wears pants and stuff, but doesn't like the way they cling to her legs. She is barefoot most of the time. Her clothes are not of any particular style and she uses magic to keep them clean since she's pretty rough on clothes. Her staff allows her to channel some earth magic to help her as ward of the island. This helps her to change the landscape of the island, but its difficult and she has to have the help of the Island's unicorns OR Abathia to do this.

Personality: She is constantly at battle with herself. She's an avatar, therefore a creation of Abathias. Sometimes her mentality slips from her and she starts to loose herself in Abathia and it takes a lot of willpower to bring her back. her tiara helps her in no way against this. This is her biggest flaw. If she gives up her autonomy, she would be pulled back into the bigger "power" of Abathia and would be no more. She's loyal and loving to the unicorn goddess, but sometimes, she falls into huge lulls of depression since she really has no real feeling of "self" during these times.

OK, now I am going to get metaphysical. If you've ever had to "draw down the Goddess" in real ritual, imagine doing that almost all the time. Overchanneling magic in stress, feeling emotions not her own, dispensing someone else's wisdom and more. Tariel is not a wise woman, she's simply a girl who is partially possessed. Abathia can't help but constantly be slipping into her Avatar's consciousness (that was why Tariel was created), but it doesn't mean that Abathia doesn't try to resist this. However, this means Tariel can get worn out, not eat and stress several times during the year, except for the most magical of times when Abathia can emerge in physical form on the prime material plane. Tariel loves those times because she is totally free of Abathia slipping into her conciousness. Though she'd never consider this a curse, it certainly worries her. She loves Abathia, the goddess has been good to her. However, she can't look at Abathia as a mother (despite it all, Abathia is not matronly to her) which means, she feels sort of "made up" for the position. The unicorns sense this and many have sort of "taken her in" and treat her as family. However, she still feels the outcast.

Animals, especially unicorns and horses are drawn to her. This is obviuosly because she is their Goddess's mortal reincarnation (even if she does have her own mind and personality, like all Avatars). This is very difficult for her though, since because she smells strongly of magic, some other animals are also attracted. This scent can also turn off and repel some animals and people.

She loves to draw, has a newfound interest in technology and she loves to fly. She is immortal, but recently, they got the Internet coming to the island which they're using to find out about more of the world around them. She likes to brew ales and make cheeses. She has to do this in a special room to keep the unicorns from trying to purify the alcohol and to keep the items fermenting properly.

Like the unicorns of the island, and her patron Goddess, she has powerful healing abilities. however, she doesn't necessarily control this. For more powerful spells, she has to give in to Abathia and she won't remember what happened. Interestingly, even though she might be the most powerful individual on the island (being an Avatar), she doesn't feel its her, since for her more powerful magics, she has to channel the Goddess Abathia. Her shapeshifting is her most intimate magic, allowing her to do what she wishes to her physical form. For the most part, she can communicate with any animal on the island, but that is because on the island animals gain intelligence and awaken (see my stable on this). Other than an emotional empathy with equines, she doesn't have any other powers like this.

History: Tariel Nimara is the most recent Avatar of Abathia. She was born from the unicorn goddess when Abathia laid an egg. All the unicorns took turns tending it until Abathia's spell finished and the egg hatched. It was done with much ceremony and perhaps the unicorns were expecting another winged unicorn as the Goddess normally brings out, however, they were surprised to see it as a young, beautiful woman. At the time, she was born, she was a little winged girl. Her shape was very malleable though, constantly shivering and shifting between one form and another. Her body was a delicate shifting of wings and horns and sparkles. Eventually, Abathia and the other unicorns taught her to control her shifting. Since then, Abathia has left the plane for the most part, taking a more ethereal part in the world at large. She has begun to extend her consciousness seeking other equines to bond with and mate with the animals of Tir'Rielle.

However, Abathia's Avatar, Tariel Nimara, has developed her own method of doing things. She has continued to remain the guardian of the Island. However, she uses the internet and communicates outside of the island. She also has several friends, such as Rebel aka :deverebelshade: whom she once helped to stop an evil wizard from destroying a breed of horse. She's one of the guardians of the Sanctuary-Of-Life with Rebelshade because of this.

In Game Notes: In my D&D world, unicorns are actually a creature "type" not just a monster (like a Dragon type, or Outsider type etc). Tariel's an Outsider, but all creatures with the Unicorn or Dragon type are friendly to her.
